In the New Testament, we read about the only begotten Son of God. This is said to be Jesus. But that may be only partially true.

When Jesus spoke of himself, he often called himself a son of man. He called our heavenly Father, his Father. This would mean he knew he was a son of God.

Yet, Jesus told us that whoever did the will of God, is his brother, or sister, or mother. This means Jesus is my brother. If there is only one “only begotten son of God,” then how can Jesus be my brother, or your brother?

I believe God is love as we read in I John 4:8. It also tells us that every Spirit of God will confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh.

We know of Jesus the son of man. But what is Jesus Christ, and how is he different than just the son of man?

Christ is not a man. Christ is the Divine Love of God. Our heavenly Father sent Christ to dwell in the heart of Jesus. It is Christ that is the only begotten Son of God. Like Father, like son.

And so we have it, Jesus was the son of man, but Christ was the “only begotten Son” of God, the Father.

This is further validated in Matthew 10:20 where Jesus told his disciples not to worry about what they would say in the future when they were delivered up before governors and kings. He told them it would be the Spirit of God within them speaking.
