How To Have A Genuine Relationship With Jesus Christ And Hear Him Speak To You

In the Bible Christ’s people are called His bride, in the Song of Soloman it talks about a bride who is seeking her husband, and this can be related to the bride of Christ who seeks Christ to be the one who loves them, and the one they seek to have a spiritual love affair with.

In the Book of the Song of Soloman in the Bible it talks about the romance and courtship of a bride seeking the one she loves, she seeks a husband to fulfill her every desire and need. She lay’s on her bed thinking of him and desiring him with all her heart, mind and soul. Jesus said we must love the Lord our God with all our heart, mind and soul and this is the greatest commandment of all. For us to love the Lord with all our heart mind and soul we must love him like a woman adores and loves her husband with all her heart mind and soul. We must seek and desire the Lord with our entire heart mind and soul, like a lover desires the presence of her man who completes and fulfills her every spiritual, emotional and physical desire.

When we court and woo our lovers we do it with such emotional care and delicacy, we woo our lovers with our spirits and we share with them affectionate praises to make them feel loved. We must treat the Lord like this as well, we must consider him our lover because after all we are his bride, and we must love and cherish him like a woman adores and cherishes a just and righteous husband who loves her like his Queen.

The following is an extraction from the song of Soloman and it can really be related to how we should seek the Lord and how we should desire him:

Song 3:1-4

1 By night on my bed I sought the one I love; I sought him, but I did not find him.

In the evening when I lay on my bed I think of the Lord all the time, I think of how much I love the Lord and how many calamities and terrifying situations he has gotten me out of. I lift up praises of love and joy to my great and mighty Lord who is all powerful and lovely and ever so caring towards me, I lay in my bed and dream sweet dreams about him and I see him in my thoughts and dreams, I imagine I’m embracing the Lord as I walk through the gates of Heaven and he embraces me to greet me, I imagine seeing the Lords transparent eyes of radiating light as his face shines like the sun. I think about how I can draw closer to him and get to know him more intimately, I desire to know him like an intimate lover knows her lover. I desire to know the secrets of the Lord and worship Him in spirit and in truth and to inquire in his temple and to behold his radiant glory emanating throughout.

The Lord is beautiful and glorious, and people often seek beauty when they seek a lover, the Lord created all beauty and whenever I see a beautiful woman, I always praise the Lord and admire his creation, because the Lord Jesus Christ created everything, and without him nothing was made that was made. Jesus is the image of the invisible God, and God is more beautiful than we could ever imagine, we should desire to know and feel him like an intimate lover knows her partner.

We should meditate on the Lord daily and nightly, when we are in bed dreaming and when we are walking about in the day. A lover never stops dreaming and thinking about the one she desires, she is fixated and enthralled by the one she desires, we should also be fixated and captivated by the Lords beauty and magnificence.

2 “I will rise now,” I said, “And go about the city; in the streets and in the squares I will seek the one I love.” I sought him, but I did not find him.

A woman who is enthralled by the lover she desires is determined and desperate to find him, because her lover makes her heart burn with awe and melt, her lover is like a drug that gets her addicted, people often take heroin to feel peace and harmony and forget their problems and emotional pain. Love is like a drug but it’s even more powerful than heroin if you get the pure form of love from God, heroin users always talk about how potent pure heroin is, but I will tell you right now there’s nothing more potent than pure love, love never fails or wears off, but heroin always wears off.

The love of and peace of God surpasses all peace and understanding, but to receive the full potency of Gods spirit one must seek him in the city, in the streets and in the town squares with all their heart mind and soul. One must seek God like the lover seeks the one she adores and prowls the city streets for him. We must seek him everywhere and anywhere, we must seek out God like we crave him in our heart. We must crave the spirit of God so that we can fully embrace the reward he gives us for diligently seeking Him. When a person diligently seeks God he will diligently reward them. The reward of the fullness of Gods spirit surpasses all understanding and knowledge, the anointing that God places on those who diligently seek him gives them eternal thrills that no drug or orgasm could possibly match.

3 The watchmen who go about the city found me; I said, “Have you seen the one I love?”

Jesus said, “No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.” (John 6:43). Jesus clearly said here that we cannot come to him unless His Father draws us to him. As I look back to how I got saved I can clearly see the Father drawing me to Jesus Christ using His Holy Spirit. Many amazing coincidences happened to lead me to Jesus, and as I look back at it now, I realize they were no coincidences, but every situation that happened in my life was orchestrated by the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is like a watchmen that hears the cries of the lost and leads them to the true salvation of Jesus Christ, even if the lost person does not know Jesus Christ is the answer.

The Holy Spirit seeks the lost, the poor in spirit, the humble and the meek who are seeking and leads them to Jesus Christ so they can inherit the Kingdom, for it is written, “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matt 5:3) and “Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.” Even though I didn’t know who Jesus was I was poor in spirit and I was hungering and thirsting for righteousness, and just like it says in Gods word, I was lead to inherit the Kingdom of God through Jesus Christ the Savior and Redeemer of the lost. I remember I called out to some invisible force, whether it be God or whatever, I wasn’t a Christian back then so I didn’t know who to call out for, but I called out to some force like that woman seeking her love called out to the watchmen and inquired if they’d seen her lover.

I was seeking the one I desired and who would fill me, but I didn’t know who I was seeking, but in a supernatural and unorthodox manner I was drawn to Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit as an unsaved lost person. I remember when I used to be involved in Satanic witchcraft and in one ritual I was involved in a demon manifested before my eyes, and it tried to take possession of me but failed, that scared the hell out of me. After that incident I started to question my involvement in the occult, and I started to wonder if there was anything else that could bring me spiritual fulfillment. Within a few days I a Christian Missionary from a Christian outreach organization called “The Family International”, he told me about Jesus Christ and the bible and I listened with interest, I then met Chris on a regular basis for a couple of weeks and then one day he asked if I would like Jesus Christ to be my Lord and Savior, I decided I would give it a go, and I asked Jesus into my heart and I asked to receive the Holy Spirit and since then my life has been changed completely. Old things have passed away and all things have become new!

4 Scarcely had I passed by them, when I found the one I love. I held him and would not let him go, until I had brought him to the house of my mother, and into the chamber of her who conceived me.

When I asked Jesus into my heart I and read about him and prayed to him, I knew Jesus was the one I had been seeking all my life, I knew he was the spiritual fulfillment I so desired to be filled by. Jesus was the lover and completeness I so yearned for, Jesus filled me spiritually with his love and compassion. I knew there was a higher force out there that cared for me and loved me, and I knew Jesus had been with me before and I’d felt him reaching out to me even before I became a Christian. Jesus even told me after I got saved, he said to me, “I have been with you for sometime, but you have not known I was there.” Jesus always had his eye on me, and he touched me with his spirit when I was alone and desperate.

At one time in my life before I was lead to the Lord, people tried to murder me, and when they had surrounded me and tried to murder me I called out to God and said, “if there’s a god out there please help me!” I really cried out because I was going to be murdered and there seemed no escape; but miraculously I escaped the murder, I originally thought I escaped being murdered because of my own strength and wit, but now that I look back at the situation I can see God’s hand in it and I know it was Jesus Christ the image of the invisible God who delivered me from my would be murderers. I praise the Lord for this as it was of no wit or strength of my own, neither did the flesh of my arm save me, it was the Lords great and mighty hand that delivered me from my murderers. The Lord is just, and he will bring his justice and help to the weak who call out to him.

We need to hold Jesus close to us, we need to embrace Him and pull him towards our bosom so he becomes our breastplate of righteousness, we have no righteousness of our own, because our righteousness is but filthy rags, only Jesus is righteous and if we embrace and hold him tight he becomes apart of us, and he becomes our breastplate of righteousness. Hold Jesus close to your breast so he can become your breastplate of righteousness, and if you have Jesus as your breastplate of righteousness he will quench all the fiery darts of the wicked that the devil fires at your heart. Keep Jesus close to your heart so he can keep your heart burning with passion for him, and so you can feel his presence comforting and loving you.

Those who have a close and more intimate relationship with Jesus Christ will draw closer to Him and have a closer connection with him, and hear more clearly from him.

James 4:8
8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.

Jesus will not talk to the double minded who do not fully embrace Him and make him first in their lives. Many churches and people out there think they can be double minded and be a friend of God as well as being a friend of the world and still hear from God. But in the book of James it says, “Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.” (James 4:4). Clearly in the Bible it shows here that whoever makes themselves a friend of the world is an enemy of God, God has to be number one in our lives and we must follow Him above all. God must be above our spouse and family and we must love God with all we have within us.

Jesus said, “He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.” (Matthew 10:37).

Jesus said that whoever loved their family or friends more than Him were not worthy of Him. If we want to be worthy of Jesus Christ and have a connection with him that allows him to whisper the secrets and mysteries of His Kingdom into our ears, we must draw close to him like a bride draws close to her husband. We must treat Jesus like more than family, we must treat him like the only thing in the world that means anything to us, because without Jesus Christ who is the image of the invisible God, we would never exist and we would never have a true future.

If you would like to have a more intimate and close relationship with Jesus Christ that allows you to hear him and feel his presence more intensely, you might want to pray this prayer:

Dear Jesus,

Please help me to hear you and feel your presence, I believe you are the begotten Son of God and I believe you died on the cross for my sins and the sins of humanity. I know you are the master of the universe and that at your name every spirit and man will bow, help me to hear your voice, give me dreams and visions so I can understand and get to know you on a more intimate level. Help me to love you as you loved the world when you died for us. Fill the emptiness in my heart with your love and abundant spirit of peace that surpasses all understanding. In Jesus name I pray.
